Configuration

Configure Rescriptum settings, paths, and environment variables.

Rescriptum stores configuration and persistent local databases in standard system directories.

Configuration Paths

  • **Windows**: %APPDATA%\rescriptum
  • **Index Database**: %APPDATA%\rescriptum\index\{workspace_hash}.db
  • **Checkpoints**: .rescriptum\editor\checkpoints\ within your project root
  • **Scratchpad**: .rescriptum\scratchpad.md within your project root

Environment Variables

  • OPENROUTER_API_KEY: Overrides the stored OpenRouter API key.
  • RESCRIPTUM_SHELL: Choose terminal shell executable (powershell, cmd, or path to bash.exe).
  • RUST_LOG: Set logging verbosity (e.g. rescriptum=info or rescriptum=debug).

Token Budget Controls

Set daily token and dollar caps in the Intelligence Panel or through config. At 90% usage, Rescriptum displays an advisory alert. At 100%, new agent calls are soft-blocked to prevent unexpected billing spikes.
