Interface & tabs guide
A comprehensive walkthrough of every panel, tab, and control in Rescriptum IDE.
Rescriptum features a fast, distraction-free native desktop interface. Here is a breakdown of every primary panel and tab.
1. Code Editor Panel
The central workspace houses the code editor:
- **Syntax Highlighting & IntelliSense**: Full syntax rendering for over 50 programming languages.
- **Inline Diff Viewer**: Displays real-time additions (green) and deletions (red) as the agent applies patches.
- **File Explorer Sidebar**: Left sidebar navigation with file tree, recently opened projects, and multi-file search.
2. Chat & Turn Panel
The primary agent interaction surface on the right side:
- **Model Selector**: Dropdown to switch between 300+ models (Claude 3.5 Sonnet, GPT-4o, DeepSeek-V3, etc.) mid-conversation.
- **Mode Selector (Ask / Agent / Plan / Build)**: Toggle agent autonomy and tool execution scope.
- **Activity Cards**: Real-time status cards showing tool names, arguments, execution duration, and success/failure badges.
- **Token & Cost Counter**: Live tracking of input tokens, output tokens, and dollar cost for the current turn.
3. Models & Token Treasury Tab
Accessible via the Treasury / Intelligence icon:
- **Live Provider Catalog**: Complete list of supported OpenRouter models with real-time per-million token pricing.
- **Daily Budget Controls**: Set soft-warning limits (e.g. $10/day) and hard-block thresholds to prevent runaway spending.
- **Arena Leaderboards**: View empirical success rates and latency benchmarks recorded across sandbox tasks.
4. Git & Worktrees Panel
Dedicated version control and isolation tab:
- **Status & Diffs**: Review uncommitted changes, staged files, and commit history.
- **Speculative Worktree Forks**: Launch isolated background worktrees to test experimental refactors without touching your primary branch.
5. Skills & MCP Marketplace Tab
Discover and extend agent capabilities:
- **Community Skills**: One-click install curated instruction packages (e.g. Next.js migration, Docker deployment, Tailwind design).
- **MCP Server Registry**: Connect external tools (PostgreSQL, GitHub, Linear, Slack, Sentry) through the Model Context Protocol.
6. Intelligence & Context Tab
Inspect the persistent cognitive state of Rescriptum:
- **Codebase Index**: Search indexed symbols, classes, functions, and cross-file references stored in the local SQLite database.
- **Playbook Memory**: Review conventions, lessons, and patterns extracted from previous sessions in the current workspace.
- **Tool Trust Journal**: View historical tool reliability scores that dictate auto-approval behavior.
- **Scratchpad Editor**: View and edit
.rescriptum/scratchpad.mdfor long-horizon task coordination.
7. Interactive Terminal Panel
Bottom drawer terminal powered by a native PTY backend:
- **Real Shell Access**: Git Bash, PowerShell, or bash running with native system permissions.
- **Multi-Tab Support**: Run development servers, background compilers, and manual CLI commands in parallel with agent sessions.
